Get that Interview - Get that Job; your first steps to a new position
A proven letter template of 2 sides that can be used to shape your application letters and Personal Statements for Senior Leadership Posts; I have shaped this letter over the years and it has helped me to be selected for numerous interviews and ultimately to be selected for 3 Headships.
Having recently retired, I am hoping this will help other colleagues to achieve the same, so go for it and good luck!
An Extensive Questionnaire (22 Questions) that can be used for self evaluation within the LSA/TA Support teams or as part of wider school/staff evaluation that informs the school development plan or gives feedback to Senior/Middle Leadership.
We all require a good template at times to showcase key data. This resource identifies key areas of data relating to individual student behaviour that can be used to present key findings to a Line Manager, school Governors or indeed OfSTED. It can be tweeked to suit the kind of data required and the way in which behaviour is tracked in your school.
Are you looking to interview for your new Senior Leaders or Assistant Heads and Deputies?
If so, this resource will provide a range of tasks that can be administered for these interviews and give you a range of feedback to help you choose the best candidate for the role.
I have used each of these tasks for SLT interviews in Special Education and they had proved invaluable.
As a bonus I have also added a wide ranging number of interview questions that I feel sure you will find useful.
A Behaviour Risk Assessment that can be used for targeted students in any provision, but more especially in Special Education and Pupil Referral Units.
A clear and precise template to identify risk and associated interventions that support targeted students.
A Mini module for students to help them reflect upon their behaviour; it is ideally suited for 1-1 intervention work, although it has been delivered in class, as part of a life skills programme.
The module is based on training in basic behaviour management for staff that I delivered, which I turned on its head to help students reflect upon their actions, by putting them in the shoes of the teacher.
The resource is part of the behaviour management series I have added here that includes, ‘Positive Teacher Language for Behaviour Incidents’, 'Using Appropriate Questions to Re-focus Students and Behaviour Support Packs 1 and 2.
Buy the three Behaviour Support Packs that compliment each other well and save three pounds.

The I.B.P. is an in-depth document for recording and tracking student behaviour. It is a supportive document that collates a range of evidence on the student and identifies a range of strategies and interventions to support improvements. This is an individually designed IBP that has been used alongside other Pastoral Support Programmes and which has been used to help provide evidence in both EHCP Review meetings and PEP’s.
Middle Leaders are the real drivers of school improvement; they are the heartbeat and engine room of a school and we need to ensure they are fully supported.
This 2 hour training session was delivered to the Middle Leadership Team across the Service, as a starting point for a real focus on their development and it was received very well by the team.
The session initially focuses on the meaning of leadership and the characteristics of good middle leaders, alongside the difference between management and leadership. It then moves to focus on the role of the middle leader and expectations for their role in schools as well as potential training needs for further development.
Feedback on the interactive session was very positive.
The Attendance Support Plan Template can be used as a higher level intervention, to support improvements in student attendance and to identify key attendance data that can be used with parents and the child, so that what is required for improvement, is shared by all and is represented in one clear document.
Are you looking to review job descriptions or to re-define the role of your Tutor Teams? This resource identifies in full what are considered the key roles for the Form Tutor on a day-to day basis. This resource can be used by member of SLT to reinforce, or indeed re-invent the expectations for form tutors in your establishment.
I originally wrote this for my school as the Tutor Period was re-introduced and it identified the guidance as to the expectations for the new role.
All staff require appropriate training - this resource is the transcript and task notes for a short training session I delivered to Lunch Time Supervisors and Play Leaders.
It contains information on assertiveness training and basic Behaviour Mangement tips for Lunch Time staff.
An extensive resource that will support you in making wholesale improvements to levels of absence across your school.
More than ever and especially from September when it is hoped that all students can return to school safely, the monitoring and tracking of attendance and student absence, becomes a key priority for Senior Leaders and Pastoral Staff.
Having been a Deputy Head in a school which fell into SM because of poor attendance, I have hands on experience of what it takes to change the culture of school attendance which must include students and all stakeholders across the school.
This pack is focused on sharing…
A whole school Improvement Plan for Attendance - one I actually devised as part of our HMI monitoring.
A whole school 12 page document on actions required to change the culture of attendance across your school, which I had written as part of my work when we were in SM. The document identifies the individual responsibilities of all staff, from form tutors through to senior leaders and Administrative support, to help raise the profile of improving levels of student absence.
A Review document to work alongside your Action Plan to identify the evidence of improvement - real life examples added for you to use.
This pack will compliment my other resource called Monitoring and Tracking School Attendance-Post Lockdown.
This resource contains some useful ideas for setting up your Student Council/Parliament alongside a PSHE/Tutor lesson activity designed to support student understanding of the kind of qualities that are required of Council Members. It also contains two templates, including a meeting agenda template and a voting slip.

I have also added an additional 'General Questions and Desired Responses resource that will provide appropriate questions for a diverse number of job roles in a school environment.
This is Part 1 of 3 Behaviour Support Programmes.
The BSP 1 is a module of work that can be used with students who are unable to demonstrate effective social skills and frequently allow their emotions to get the better of them, often demonstrating bouts of anger and increased emotion. The module is best suited to be delivered by a Mentor or Behaviour Coach in a 1-1 or small group environment.
It consists of between 4-6 lessons and contains all appropriate worksheets and lesson guidance.
A useful Self-Assessment sheet that can be used in Careers lessons to track personal skills and work completed during the careers module: Can be adapted to a range of different subjects where it will prove to be a useful end of module/topic self-assessment record for the student and the teacher
Are you requiring a quick reference for defining Leadership? After studying a Masters in Educational Leadership I have collated a number of key statements that will help you to prepare more fully for interviews and associated application forms and personal statements. It will also help you in delivering training on Management and Leadership for your SLT and Middle Leaders.
A very simple tool to enable a quick student snapshot for tracking behaviour, effort and overall progress in a range of subject across the curriculum. Can be used to collate information before parental meetings, PEP meetings, EHCP Reviews etc.
